Presidents of Belarus, Israel exchange greetings on 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations

MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to Israel President Reuven Rivlin as the countries celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Over a quarter of a century we have established solid ties in various fields ranging from trade cooperation to interaction in information technologies,” the head of state stressed. “The relations between our countries which have always relied on mutual respect were established long before the creation of modern states. The many-year history of cohabitation of Belarusians and Jews on the Belarusian soil, entwinement of people’s fates and their tragic past against the backdrop of the events of the Great Patriotic War make up a solid foundation uniting the two countries.”

Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that by joint efforts Belarus and Israel will be able to advance their cooperation to a brand-new level.

The Israel president, in turn, remarked that friendly relations were established between the two countries. The cooperation in all avenues is increasingly vibrant. He is convinced that the bilateral ties will be enhancing in the future.
