Plans to invite foreign experts to Belarus’ parliamentary hearings on education

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Belarus plans to invite experts from Russia, China, and Estonia to attend parliamentary hearings on education scheduled for 29 November, BelTA learned from Igor Marzalyuk, Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Permanent Commission on Education, Culture, and Science.

In his words, there are plans to invite a high-profile Russian doctor of pedagogical sciences, experts from Estonia which has one of the best education systems in Europe (according to PISA Program for International Student Assessment), and China as it boasts world-famous achievements in education.

Igor Marzalyuk pointed out that the the hearings will be dedicated to the functioning of the whole education system, from preschool to university. The MPs are to discuss the development of the principles of the Bologna Process in Belarus’ education system. Igor Marzalyuk expressed confidence that a consensus will be reached on this matter and the interests of every side will be taken into account. “We will be speaking about ways to maintain the high quality of education and increase its advantages,” he underlined.
