Parliaments of Belarus and Serbia sign memorandum of cooperation

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia signed a memorandum of cooperation, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko and President of the Serbia National Assembly Maja Gojkovic.

“Our negotiations resulted in the signing of the document on cooperation between the two parliaments which describes the specific forms and areas of cooperation,” Maja Gojkovic told reporters. She added that the memorandum provides for the exchange of information between the parliaments, and the cooperation in inter-parliamentary organizations. The Serbian Speaker believes that the doors are open for the development of Belarusian-Serbian cooperation.

Maja Gojkovic also thanked the Belarusian side, including personally the Speakers of both chambers of the Belarusian Parliament, for the invitation to visit the country. She stressed that it was the first visit of the head of the Serbian Parliament to Belarus. "I am extremely happy with the program of the visit, and with the talks with the leaders of the two chambers of Parliament. The meetings were extremely meaningful,” she said. Maja Gojkovic made a special emphasis that she had the opportunity to discuss bilateral relations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
