MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – At the invitation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, a delegation of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) will be on a visit to Belarus on 22-24 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

Particular attention during the upcoming meetings with the leadership of the House of Representatives will be devoted to economic partnership, trade, and joint investment projects. The parties will examine cooperation priorities in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, science and technology, as well as cultural exchanges.

“The visit of a delegation from this esteemed parliamentary organization is an important step toward building closer dialogue between Belarus and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. The goal is to promote the exchange of parliamentary expertise and to enable discussions on urgent international matters. Belarus looks forward to engaging in a constructive and fruitful dialogue that will lay the groundwork for a lasting strategic partnership,” the press service of the House of Representatives emphasized.

PARLATINO is a regional inter-parliamentary organization founded in Lima, Peru, in December 1964. It brings together the parliamentary structures of all Spanish-speaking Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as Brazil, Haiti, Suriname, and Dutch dependent territories. The organization currently comprises 23 parliamentary structures, representing countries with a combined population of over 660 million people. Its primary objectives are to accelerate political, economic, and cultural integration in Latin America and to promote the harmonization of legislation across the region in education, healthcare, environmental protection, and the fight against drug trafficking. The parliament of the Republic of Belarus has held permanent observer status at PARLATINO for 10 years (since 2016).
