MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) - More than 153,000 foreigners have visited Belarus without visas since the beginning of the year, the State Border Committee told BelTA.
Since 1 January, 153,639 foreign nationals from 38 countries included in the visa‑free list have entered Belarus. The majority of travelers came from the neighboring countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland.
Since the visa‑free regime was introduced, a total of 1,411,808 European residents have visited the country. Of these, 450,118 from Latvia, 716,633 arrived from Lithuania, and 157,654 from Poland (the visa‑free entry for citizens of Lithuania and Latvia, as well as persons with non‑citizen status in Latvia, was introduced on 15 April 2022; for Polish citizens, it came into effect on 1 July 2022). Under the extended visa‑free regime for 35 additional European states, which was introduced on 19 July 2024, 87,403 people entered Belarus.
The State Border Committee stated that the head of state decided to extend the visa waiver for citizens of 38 European countries until 31 December 2026, inclusive.
