OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group Conference in Minsk to draw MPs from 23 states

OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group Conference in Minsk to draw MPs from 23 states

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Minsk will host the OSCE PA Silk Road Support Group Conference on 2-4 May. It will be attended by MPs from 23 countries, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said during a session of the House of Representatives on 30 January, BelTA has learned.

"We should make the most of the conference to promote Belarus as an important hub of the Silk Road Economic Belt. We have something to show our foreign colleagues. A positive international image and a stable development environment are the main conditions for foreign investments. We have both," Vladimir Andreichenko said.

The final program of the conference will be agreed on 20 February ahead of the OSCE PA winter session in Vienna. Another key task of the Belarusian delegation at the Vienna session is to test the waters for a resolution on international cooperation in technology foresight for sustainable development ahead of the summer session, Vladimir Andreichenko added. “It would be the third resolution sponsored by the Belarusian parliament of the sixth convocation. The two previous ones were successfully adopted and included in the final declarations of the OSCE PA sessions in Minsk and Berlin,” he noted.

Belarusian parliamentary delegations will take part in major events, including the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Doha, Qatar in April, the CIS IPA plenary session in St. Petersburg and a meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in May.

“These forums should be used to hold bilateral meetings with partners. Trade and economy remain the major issues on the agenda,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
