Official delegation of Nicaragua to visit Belarus soon

MOSCOW, 6 March (BelTA) – An official delegation of Nicaragua is set to visit Belarus in the near future, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow following the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko and Ambassador of Nicaragua to Russia Luis Alberto Molina on 6 March.

“The ambassadors discussed ways to step up cooperation between Belarus and Nicaragua in the priority areas as well as matters related to the preparation of the Minsk visit of Nicaragua’s official delegation. The delegation is to be led by a Deputy Foreign Minister of Nicaragua,” the press service informed.

The diplomats noted that the forthcoming bilateral talks will open up a new page in the history of the bilateral relations, in particular, in cooperation in trade, economy and other fields. The talks are also expected to give an impetus to the expansion of the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation.

The diplomatic relations between Belarus and Nicaragua were established in May 1994. The bilateral trade was estimated at $1.77 million in 2013. Belarus’ export to Nicaragua made up $1.68 million, import $0.9 million.
