MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) - The combat readiness drills underway in internal troops units and certain internal affairs units is a planned exercise, Belarusian Internal Affairs Minister Ivan Kubrakov told the media following his report to the head of state on 8 January, BelTA has learned.
According to the minister, he had set the task of checking the readiness of internal troops units and some internal affairs units on the morning of 8 January. “We will check the combat readiness of both hardware and personnel,” said Ivan Kubrakov. Special units are also being checked for their readiness to counter sabotage and reconnaissance groups, he added.
“There is no emergency situation; this is a planned exercise. All units of any security bloc must be in a state of constant readiness. Our president has also spoken about this before,” the minister emphasized.
Ivan Kubrakov noted that currently, officers, including the Deputy Internal Affairs Minister and Commander of the Internal Troops, are checking the readiness of internal troops and internal affairs units.
“Personnel must be constantly ready. Today, officers of the internal affairs bodies, including the internal troops, are ensuring the safety of our citizens around the clock,” he said. According to the minister, the readiness of special internal troops units, which were established over the past two years, is also being inspected.
“Naturally, taking this into account, we will conduct an analysis, a review, and implement additional measures,” Ivan Kubrakov said.
