MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ national sustainable development strategy through 2035 will be submitted to the government before 1 April, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov said at a board meeting of the Economy Ministry on 28 February, BelTA has learned.

“National interests and international commitments to achieve sustainable development goals have been taken into account in the development of the new strategy. Thematic roundtables were held with the participation of a wide range of experts. We did our best to hear every initiative. Today the task is to finalize the strategy taking into account the proposals of government agencies and public organizations and to hold the public hearings and submit it to the government by April 1,” said Aleksandr Chervyakov.

The concept of Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2021-2025 has been developed. Several scenarios of development are being worked out given the new reality. One of them is the target scenario and should ensure the economic growth above the global average. According to the minister, the concept has been reviewed in the government, the systemic areas of economic policy have been approved as a basis for further work. “Commercial services will be one of the growth drivers in the next five years. When drawing up a program and estimates to it, each industry regulator should submit specific proposals for the development of commercial services. Special emphasis is on services export and measures to increase the participation of private business,” he stressed.

Aleksandr Chervyakov stressed that the forecast of Belarus’ social and economic development for 2021 should be tied with the five-year program.
