Myasnikovich sees positive signals in U.S. changing attitude to Belarus

NEW YORK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich sees positive signals in the U.S. changing attitude to Belarus. The PM made this statement as he talked to the media after the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the United States, BelTA has learned.

“My experience and post do not allow me to claim that everything has changed at once. We should take a well-thought approach to any statement voiced. There cannot be a miracle in this situation. However, the policy conducted by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko inspires respect. It was stated during the meeting with the UN Secretary General and during the meetings with a number of other officials, heads of delegations that arrived for the UN conference,” the Prime Minister noted.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, Belarus’ active role in a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict was praised at the meetings. “A smart policy, as Ban Ki-moon called it, pursued by the President of Belarus makes many politicians who perhaps are sharply prejudiced against Belarus take a different look at what is really going on in Belarus and at the role the country plays in different issues,” the PM said.

As for the business sphere, according to Mikhail Myasnikovich, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Zhu Min took note of the progress in the Belarusian economy and its currency exchange regulations. “It also does not go unnoticed. Thus, we can talk about an array of positive signals that, as I believe, will continue getting stronger and develop to our country’s benefit,” the head of government said.
