MPs of Belarus, Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast to promote interregional ties

MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – The MPs of Belarus and Astrakhan Oblast, the Russian Federation, will cooperate in promoting interregional ties. The decision is envisaged in a memorandum of cooperation signed between the Council of the Republic and the Duma of Astrakhan Oblast in Minsk on 29 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament.

The document was signed by Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the Duma of Astrakhan Oblast Igor Martynov.

“In line with the memorandum, the parties will promote cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Astrakhan Oblast of the Russian Federation, expand the forms of various interregional ties,” the press service informed.

The document envisages joint events to strengthen bilateral inter-parliamentary relations, develop cooperation in scientific and innovative activities, exchange visits of delegations, and intensify ties between the standing commissions and committees.

“The parties agreed to set up the corresponding friendship groups between the Council of the Republic and the Duma of Astrakhan Oblast to implement the memorandum,” the press service noted.
