MP: Belarus is willing to communicate with public associations of any country

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – Members of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives are meeting with member of the Communist Party of Switzerland Davide Rossi, BelTA has learned.

Professor Davide Rossi came to Belarus to take part in Independence Day celebrations. In addition, he is set to visit government agencies of Belarus and to meet with the leadership of the Communist Party of Belarus to discuss ways to promote Belarus-Switzerland dialogue.

“This meeting outlines our program of contacts with public associations from Western Europe. We are very concerned about the processes that are taking place in these countries. The financial and industrial elites are plunging these countries into an energy crisis, COVID-19 restrictions remain in place and a lot of other things are done to complicate the lives of ordinary people. We want to understand what is happening, why this is happening? And the second point that I would like to highlight is that we are always open for communication with our partners - with the public of any country,” Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh said.

This dialogue should always be based on the principles of openness, equality and fairness, the MP noted. “We always advocate the exchange of views. We are well aware that it is futile to call on the authorities of these countries to sit down at the negotiating table at the time of a crisis. They have opted for confrontation, but we believe we can talk to public associations representing ordinary people of these countries. And we are convinced that this work will create some groundwork for the future and facilitate mutual understanding,” he added.
