More money to develop customs infrastructure in Belarus

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – More extra-budgetary money will be channeled into the development of the customs infrastructure in Belarus. The measure is stipulated by decree No.256 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

Belarus president decree No.278 “Terms of the additional funding of customs service bodies and border service bodies” of 2 June 2009 has been amended. A new procedure for providing additional funding to the customs service has been introduced. The extra money is supposed to come from profits of the customs clearance and logistics services company RUP Beltamozhservice. It will be possible to use the money for construction and reconstruction of border checkpoints, for improving physical infrastructure, and for co-financing international technical aid programs.

The presidential decree will reduce the central state budget’s burden as far as the financing of construction of customs infrastructure is concerned. It will help finish the reconstruction of the border checkpoints Urbany and Verkhny Terebezhov (on the Belarusian-Latvian border and the Belarusian-Ukrainian border) ahead of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 in addition to raising about €15 million in foreign investments.
