More effective operation of Belarusian power-wielding agencies wanted

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The effectiveness of operation of Belarusian power-wielding agencies needs to improve. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference on 16 December, BelTA has learned.

The conference also touched upon the optimization of all the power-wielding agencies to a reasonable extent, including the removal of unnecessary functions. The optimization is supposed to make stronger those components that really work to fulfill the assigned tasks. The discussion on 16 December continued the one the President started one month before during the government conference on the operation of Belarusian power-wielding agencies.

The head of state heard out reports from nearly all the ministers to learn about the state of affairs in their agencies and about development prospects. At the end of the conference State Secretary of the Security Council Stanislav Zas noted that no-nonsense instructions had been given to improve the performance of power-wielding agencies and the quality of their work. The fulfillment of specific instructions given by the President one month before was discussed as well.

Stanislav Zas said that no additional tasks concerning Ukraine had been set apart from the reinforcement of the southern border. “We have to do it. We have to build a normal civilized border that has to be between two independent nations. We also have to improve the operation of border checkpoints and step up control for the sake of preventing various negative manifestations from penetrating the country,” he said.

On the whole, the President evaluated the performance of the power-wielding agencies as effective.
