Mishustin: Belarus-Russia trade almost unaffected by coronavirus pandemic

MOSCOW, 26 January (BelTA) - The coronavirus pandemic has had little impact on trade and economic relations between Belarus and Russia, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during the talks with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Moscow on 26 January, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Mishustin noted that in general the Belarusian-Russian trade and economic cooperation has been developing dynamically. "In 2019, before coronavirus, our trade exceeded $35.5 billion," he recalled. “ Belarus rightly ranks first among our economic partners in the entire CIS. Of course, coronavirus has affected the general situation, including  trade, but I would not say that the impact was big."

The Russian head of government noted that Russia values the fraternal relations with Belarus. He suggested raising the joint work to a new level, filling the integration cooperation with new content.

"The relations between Belarus and Russia are unique. Long-standing ties in industry play the key role here. In a number of sectors we have joint value chains, mutual supplies of components," Mikhail Mishustin said.

"It is important to create the most comfortable conditions for business of the two countries and launch new cooperation projects," Mikhail Mishustin said.
