Minsk to host session of CIS permanent plenipotentiaries 14 April

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) - A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the CIS member states in statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in Minsk on 14 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting will be attended by Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.

The permanent plenipotentiaries will discuss the results of the session of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting which was held in Bishkek on 3 April 2015 and will outline the measures for implementation of the documents related to various aspects of interaction in the CIS adopted at the session of the council.

In addition, the permanent plenipotentiaries will discuss the status of implementation of the action plan for the preparation and celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. As the press service informed, active work is in progress to implement the plan aimed at preserving the memory of the people who died in the fight against fascism, upkeeping military cemeteries, memorials, monuments and obelisks, and graves of members of the partisan and underground movements and prisoners of Nazi death camps, searching for the remains of the soldiers and civilians who were killed in the Great Patriotic War.

The CIS permanent plenipotentiaries are set to discuss the plan of events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Commonwealth of Independent States which will be marked in 2016.
