Minsk to host ministerial consultations on cooperation in CIS on 7-8 February

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – The ministerial consultations on cooperation in the CIS in 2018 will take place in Minsk on 7-8 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

It is expected that attending the meeting will be First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Viktor Guminsky. Representatives of the foreign political agencies will discuss the development of cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The participants of the consultations will take stock of the progress in the implementation of the CIS multi-level ministerial consultations for 2017 and will consider a draft similar document for 2018. According to the press service, “the plan for the CIS multi-level ministerial consultations for 2017 was fully implemented.” In particular, nine consultations and a meeting of the advisory council of heads of consular services were held. The advisory committee of heads of legal services of the CIS ministries of foreign affairs met twice.

“Based on the proposals developed by the foreign policy departments, the CIS Executive Committee has prepared a draft plan of consultations for 2018, which, in general, corresponds to the consultations successfully held in 2017. The document is planned to be submitted to the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers which meeting is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 6 April,” the press service added.
