MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in association with the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry will hold the international forum “Smart sustainable cities: organizational and technical aspects” in Minsk on 16-18 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

The forum will bring together top officials of the Communications and Informatization Ministry, the ITU Regional Office for CIS, Belarusian government agencies, district executive committees, and leading scientific and educational institutions. Experts of the ITU, telecom operators of the CIS member states, and Belarusian organizations will present practical experience and ways to build a smart and sustainable city.

The program of the forum includes reports from Belarusian and international experts in organizational, economic, and technical aspects of the development of smart sustainable cities.

The goals of the forum include making Belarusian specialists familiar with the latest global achievements and trends related to smart sustainable cities, reviewing proposals from the ITU member states concerning unification of approaches to construction and development of smart sustainable cities, and outlining the area and procedure for cooperation between government agencies and commercial entities in joint implementation of smart city projects.

“The forum will help top specialists from various countries exchange experience in the development of smart city technologies and solutions and come to a common understanding of smart city issues and ways to address them,” the press service noted.

The organizers invite everyone interested in the topic to take part in the forum. The event will be held offline, but participants will also be able to join online. Those who would like to participate as a speaker are welcome to discuss this matter with the organizers until 12 February 2021.

The contacts and information about the forum are available on the website of the International Telecommunication Union. Participants are required to register for the forum on the website: https://www.itu.int/ru/ITU-D/Regional-Presence/CIS/Pages/Events/2021/Minsk-SSC.aspx
