Minsk to host CEI conference on cooperation in transportation and logistics

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Cooperation in transportation and logistics in the Central European Initiative (CEI) region will be in the spotlight of the ministerial conference “Throwing bridges between Europe and Asia” that will take place in Minsk on 8 June, BelTA learned from the official website of the Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The conference is designed to set up a platform to showcase projects in transport and logistics, discuss the technologies and practices, make recommendations on their appliance, and discuss plans and further cooperation.

The event will feature special panels on the modernization of transportation and logistics infrastructure. They will take into account the EU strategies to develop trans-European transport networks attracting resources of international financial institutions; to facilitate trade by harmonizing customs procedures, rules of origin of goods and cost estimate, tariff and non-tariff regulations, industrial, sanitary and phytosanitary standards within the framework of EU-EEU cooperation.

The participants of the conference are also set to discuss the promotion of the so-called digital transport networks by means of development of paperless trade, mutual recognition of electronic shipping documents and electronic trading platforms for small and medium-sized business, and cross-border digital services, including the proposals of Belarus’ initiative to harmonize the digital markets of the EU and CEI member states.

The ministerial conference will be held under the aegis of Belarus’ presidency in the Central European Initiative.
