Minsk Oblast, China’s Chongqing to step up cooperation

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Minsk Oblast and China’s city of Chongqing intend to step up cooperation. This matter was on the agenda of the meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy, Minsk Oblast Vice Governor Nikolai Rogashchuk and Chongqing Mayor Tang Liangzhi on 27 August, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in China.

The parties discussed a wide range of matters including the establishment of a general consulate of Belarus in Chongqing. The meeting also touched upon creating conditions to increase supplies of Belarusian products to China, holding joint events in 2019-2020, and enhancing cooperation between Minsk Oblast and Chongqing in general.

Chongqing with a population of 30 million people has twin-town relations with Minsk Oblast. The opening of the general consulate of Belarus in Chongqing is expected to offer new opportunities to develop bilateral relations.
