Minsk, Brasília to sign twin-town agreement

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – On 29 May, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Brazil Andrei Andreyev met with a delegation of the Federal District of Brazil led by Secretary of International Relations of the Federal District Government Paco Britto at the Belarusian Embassy, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Brazil.

The parties explored the possibilities to expand cooperation in agriculture, industry and trade between Belarus and the Brazilian metropolitan area.

An agreement was reached that a Brazilian delegation that will include business people will visit Minsk this year to chart out cooperation plans and to sign a twin-town agreement between Minsk and Brasília.

In addition to traditional areas of cooperation, the Brazilian side upheld the proposal to explore promising avenues of cooperation, including smart agriculture, biotechnology and medicine.

“We are glad to have the opportunity to develop trade and economic ties between our countries and between their metropolitan areas,” Paco Britto noted.

The Federal District (Distrito Federal) is a special administrative unit of Brazil that incorporates the country's capital, Brasília.
