Minister: Cooperation between Azerbaijan, Belarus in legal matters bore fruitful results

MINSK, 28 November (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan in legal matters bore fruitful results, Azerbaijani Justice Minister Fikret Mammadov told reporters after a meeting with Belarusian Justice Minister Sergei Khomenko in Minsk on 28 November, BelTA has learned.

"Today, the delegation of Azerbaijan’s Justice Ministry is on an official visit in Minsk at the invitation of Belarusian Justice Minister Sergei Khomenko. This is my third visit to Belarus, and I am very glad to be in your beautiful country," Fikret Mammadov said.

He noted that relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan are characterized by close friendship and fruitful cooperation. "This year is important for our countries as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan," Fikret Mammadov stressed.

According to Fikret Mammadov, the countries have cooperated very fruitfully in various fields over the years. "Thanks to our presidents, our relations have reached the level of strategic partnership. I am satisfied that our cooperation  in legal matters has kept pace. We have signed various cooperation agreements, and during today's visit, we took stock of the positive results that we have achieved. We have something to share with friends and colleagues in order to mutually enrich our experience," he concluded.

A roundtable was held in Minsk with the participation of the justice ministries of the two countries. Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Committee for Forensic Examinations Aleksandr Lashin took part in the roundtable as forensic examinations is one of the lines of activities of the Azerbaijani ministry.

During the roundtable, the Azerbaijani colleagues were briefed on the Belarusian experience of amending the Basic Law of the state and implementing the constitutional reform.

The Azerbaijani delegation learned more about Belarus’ experience of the development of the justice system, including the institution of notaries, the system of compulsory enforcement bodies.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a program of cooperation to improve the legal framework for interaction between the ministries.
