MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) - Belarus informed the CIS Foreign Ministers Council about the situation in and around the country, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs told the media after the meeting of the council.

The minister stressed that the agenda was very extensive. "As always, the participants of the meeting exchanged the information about the situation in our region, along the perimeters of our borders, in our states," he said. “Belarus has provided the information about the current situation in and around the country. We emphasized the need to draw lessons from the events taking place in our region and to further strengthen cooperation in the CIS. By the way, all my colleagues spoke about this,” Vladimir Makei said.

"It is absolutely clear to us that this organization - the Commonwealth of Independent States - should remain, should continue to serve as a platform not only for the exchange of views but also for decision-making to promote comprehensive cooperation in various avenues and areas," Vladimir Makei said.

The minister noted that a number of important documents were considered and adopted at the meeting. For example, the council adopted a plan of multi-level ministerial consultations in the CIS for 2021, which provides for the exchange of views on all relevant issues of life in the CIS.

The members of the council reviewed the draft documents which will be submitted to the CIS heads of state later. "The most important of these is the concept of further development of the CIS and the plan of action to implement this concept. The plan is extensive, includes 60 points and covers almost all areas of life of our organization," Vladimir Makei noted.
