MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) - Belarus has put measures in place to prevent military goods from being illegally trafficked, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Ambrazevich said as he addressed a meeting of the UN Security Council "Threats to international peace and security: Risks stemming from violations of the agreements regulating the export of weapons and military equipment", BelTA has learned.

"Belarus pays the most serious attention to the control over the re-export of military goods. The obligation to prevent re-export without the prior consent of Belarus is the mandatory requirement for end-user certificates and international import certificates,” Yuri Ambrazevich said. “If necessary, we may request the importing state to arrange verification of the use of the weapons supplied by us for the stated purposes."

Yuri Ambrazevich believes that these elements should be integral components of every national export control system and relevant multilateral agreements.
