MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich presented the letters of credence to Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Tashkent told BelTA.

The ambassador held talks with the head of state after the ceremony to discuss the status and prospects of the Belarusian-Uzbek relations and upcoming high-level events.

Uzbekistan is Belarus’ important partner in Central Asia. The bilateral trade more than doubled in 2017 and reached $131 million. The positive dynamics remains in place this year as well: the trade already exceeded $90 million in the first half of 2018. In 2017 Belarusian holding companies Amkodor and Bobruiskagromash set up joint ventures in Uzbekistan to produce vehicles to be used in road construction and agriculture. Minsk Tractor Works launched a joint venture to produce tractors in Tashkent.
