Makei to visit Moscow on 9-10 November

MOSCOW, 3 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei will be on a visit to Moscow on 9-10 November to take part in a joint session of the collegiums of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing on 3 November, BelTA has learned. 

“At the invitation of his Russian counterpart, the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Belarus will pay a working visit to Moscow to participate in the annual joint meeting of the collegiums of the two foreign ministries,” Maria Zakharova said.

According to her, the program of the visit includes negotiations between the foreign ministers to discuss the state of bilateral cooperation and pressing international and regional problems. “The joint meeting of the collegiums of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 10 November will take stock of the progress to implement the Program of Coordinated Actions in Foreign Policy of the Union State for 2020-2021, as well as a draft new program for another two-year period. There are also plans to outline tasks related to foreign policy support and diplomatic support to implementation of the integration decisions of the Supreme State Council and the Council of Ministers of the Union State,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.

“The collegiums of the foreign ministries will discuss the interaction at international human rights platforms with a focus on the inadmissibility of interference in the domestic affairs of sovereign states, as well as the UN cooperation with the CSTO and the CIS. The parties plan to pay special attention to the state of affairs in the field of non-proliferation, disarmament and arms control, interaction between Russia and Belarus in specialized multilateral structures,” Maria Zakharova said.

A number of joint documents are to be signed following the meeting. “They include the Program of Coordinated Actions in Foreign Policy of the Member States of the Treaty Establishing the Union State in 2022–2023, the schedule of ministerial consultations for 2022 and the resolution of the collegiums containing bilateral arrangements,” the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
