Makei: Extremely positive momentum in Belarus-Romania relations

Makei: Extremely positive momentum in Belarus-Romania relationsMINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Belarus-Romania relations are enjoying an extremely positive momentum, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media following a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Teodor-Viorel Melescanu on 9 November, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus-Romania relations have lately seen an extremely positive momentum. Constructive interaction with our Romanian partners has been gradually expanding at all levels,” Vladimir Makei said.

After a long hiatus, the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation has resumed its work. The two countries maintain regular contacts between the ministries of foreign affairs and other ministries. Belarus-Romania interparliamentary cooperation has also intensified. “We have agreed to continue interaction in this field. The minister has invited some Belarusian MPs to visit Romania,” the diplomat added.

Makei: Extremely positive momentum in Belarus-Romania relationsInterregional cooperation between Belarus and Romania has been given a new impetus, Vladimir Makei stated. The sides are now busy preparing for a series of mutual visits.

Vladimir Makei also underlined that Belarus and Romania have accumulated plenty of potential in trade and economy, which is yet to be exploited. “The similarities between our economies should be viewed as a solid basis for mutually beneficial and complementary joint projects in the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, primarily by means of developing industrial cooperation,” he remarked.

Vladimir Makei pointed out that Belarus sees great prospects in establishing cooperation with the Romanian business in a wide range of fields.

“I would like to reassure our colleagues that Belarus will make every effort to put into practice the agreements we reached today. We are set to hold negotiations to draw up a plan of action to be implemented together with all the ministries and departments concerned,” the diplomat summarized.
