Makei: Belarus’ trade with most countries is growing

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ trade with the majority of states is growing, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at the opening of the first conference of honorary consuls of Belarus on 3 October, BelTA has learned.

“Economic diplomacy deserves special attention because your participation in it is in especial demand,” Vladimir Makei noted addressing the honorary consuls. “As a result of the diversification of our effort on all continents, Belarus’ trade with most states is growing. Cooperation in the integration format of the Eurasian Economic Union is actively developing,” the minister added.

Vladimir Makei remarked that the widest possible range of matters related to trade and economy will be discussed at the level of the Belarusian prime minister.

“Today we are meeting in a format which is similar to those traditional seminars that we annually hold for heads of our embassies. We have already established comprehensive cooperation with you and developed productive and constructive interaction. I know many of you first hand,” the minister underlined. “We do not have and cannot have any taboo topics. We will try to provide you with all the necessary exclusive information about the country, its development, and plans for the future. Mutual contacts, exchange of unique experience and background are necessary as well as the meetings you will have with ministers and representatives of business and culture. They will give mutual energy and will probably become an impetus to a sort of cross-border cooperation and new mutually beneficial joint projects,” Vladimir Makei underlined.

“We hope for feedback, active sincere constructive conversation, exchange of views and initiatives during this conference. Many of you probable have ideas about what mechanisms and instruments can be used to effectively represent Belarus’ interests abroad, and also about what hampers the implementation of certain initiatives or mutually beneficial cooperation,” Vladimir Makei summed up.
