“I highly appreciate the atmosphere of trust that is present in all the contacts of ours. There are no topics we don’t discuss,” said Vladimir Makei.

The Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the agenda of the negotiations had been rather large, the sides had talked about many aspects of global and regional cooperation. “Taking into account the fact that the dialogue between our countries at the high and top levels is extremely intensive, we paid considerable attention to the schedule of forthcoming meetings in various formats,” he said. In particular, the sides discussed preparations for the second forum of regions of Belarus and Russia that will take place in Veliky Novgorod on 17-18 September.

According to Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, during the negotiations the sides stated the considerable potential that the Union State of Belarus and Russia has in various spheres, including foreign policy. The progress in preparing the program of concerted foreign policy actions of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in 2016-2017 was discussed as well as the progress in preparing a session of the joint boards of the Belarusian and Russian ministries of foreign affairs, which is scheduled to take place in Moscow in October.
