Lukashenko’s visit to Tajikistan: CIS summit, meeting with Rahmon, tractors and vineyards

DUSHANBE, 29 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko completed his visit to Tajikistan on 29 September, BelTA informs.

The Belarusian leader was seen off by Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon at the airport. The heads of state once again discussed the results of the visit which was marked not only by integration and multilateral cooperation within the CIS but also by bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Tajikistan.

Alexander Lukashenko and Emomali Rahmon agreed to accelerate the implementation of all previously-made agreements, primarily those that were reached during the official visit of the Belarusian leader to Tajikistan in May 2018. The Belarusian head of state thanked Tajikistan for hospitality and warmth, confirmed Belarus’ readiness to take an active part in the industrialization of Tajikistan.

The bilateral plan of action includes a joint assembly production of tractor equipment in the city of Hisor. The heads of state paid a visit to the plant to check out the implementation of their instructions. The presidents were satisfied with what they saw and discussed further plans for industrial cooperation at Tajikistan sites.

One of the points of the bilateral program was to visit the grape farms in Tursunzoda District. The presidents tasted grapes of different varieties, took part in grape harvesting and continued informal talks.

As BelTA earlier reported, Alexander Lukashenko took part in the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Dushanbe. The presidents exchanged views on topical issues related to cooperation within the CIS, decided on the date and venue of the next meeting. It will take place in Ashgabat on 11 October 2019. At the working session the presidents considered documents regulating political interaction, further development of cooperation in humanitarian activities, security, and also a number of projects aimed at improving the legal, organizational and personnel support of the CIS activities.
