Lukashenko, Zinovsky discuss role of Business Development Council in Belarus

Lukashenko, Zinovsky discuss role of Business Development Council in BelarusMINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – Proposals of the Business Development Council will be mandatory for the government’s consideration. This idea was supported by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko when he heard out a report of Belarus’ Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky on raising the role of the Business Development Council under the aegis of the President on 19 September, BelTA has learned.

“You suggest making decisions regarding the involvement of the Business Development Council under the aegis of the President in current business processes. When we change certain regulations, new regulations emerge, and it would be great if the council could submit proposals and discuss them in the government, ministries and agencies. This is a good provision, and I support it. If the council submits a proposal to the government, it should be considered. I agree that the role of the council should be increased. We must revise the composition of this council and turn it into an efficient instrument,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president emphasized that the elimination of administrative barriers should result in the toughening of the responsibility of business. “We lift almost all barriers. On the other hand, I wanted to toughen the responsibility of businessmen, directors of companies for the results of their work,” the head of state remarked.

At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko added that he met with businessmen, and they agreed that the responsibility should be toughened. “They have warned me several times that this sector should not be left without control. There should be control if you do not want to lose manageability in the economy and order in the country. I am against excessive control, but the audit functions that are needed for the state should remain,” the Belarusian leader said.
