Lukashenko wishes Happy Lunar New Year to Chinese people

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to China President Xi Jinping as the country celebrates Chinese New Year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

According to the head of state, thanks to its foresight and efficient social and economic policy in 2020 China fully eradicated poverty and reached one of the Two Centenary Goals, which is to build a moderately prosperous society.

“Impressive progress in the fight against the coronavirus infection once again showed the whole world that strong and modern China is able to protect its people and statehood,” the message of greetings reads.

The president thanked China for supporting Belarus in a difficult period. In his words, it means a lot. “I assure you that China can always count on Belarus. Our friendship has stood many tests which we pass together. Therefore, we by right call ourselves ‘all-weather friends’,” the head of state stressed. “I am convinced that in 2021 we will advance bilateral partnership to a brand-new level, will continue doing our best to build international relations in the spirit of respect, equality, justice and mutually beneficial cooperation.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked Xi Jinping for a personal contribution to the development of allied relations between Beijing and Minsk, wished him strong health and happiness. The Belarusian head of state also wished Chinese people every success and prosperity.
