Lukashenko wants regulations on public order protection promptly amended

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – It is necessary to promptly improve regulations on the protection of public order. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he met with personnel of the Internal Affairs Ministry on 30 October, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said that a number of proposals had been submitted on improving the regulatory framework on the protection of public order. “We saw in practice,” he remarked.

He added that the parliament should promptly amend the relevant laws and regulations. “And guys in the Internal Affairs Ministry and the city [of Minsk] should promptly check whether everything they have suggested has been taken into account,” the president said.

Another area that needs prompt adjustments of the regulatory framework is the work and the authority of the president’s aides – inspectors for the regions and the city of Minsk. “We are now working on perfecting the legal base in order to give these people more powers. I would like to ask the state secretariat, the Belarus President Administration, and you, Natalya Ivanovna [Kochanova] as the head of the upper chamber of the parliament, who is involved in personnel appointments, to pitch in and improve things,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“We have to complete these two pieces of work fast,” he added.
