MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Teachers should get the country’s average salary at the very least, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he heard out a report of Belarus Education Minister Igor Karpenko on 26 August, BelTA informs.
“Keep in mind that teacher salaries should equal the country’s average at the minimum,” the head of state said.
The president recalled the task to raise salaries of workers on low pay, in particular, preschool teachers. “We need to raise their salaries, because their work is really hard, in particular in kindergartens. Even though they can have free meals there and some other perks, these non-monetary incentives cannot compensate for the huge workload, the responsibility they should cope with and the quality they need to deliver,” the Belarusian leader said.
“Naturally, we need to keep them busy, I am not arguing with that. However, we need to pay them well. I drew attention of the premier to this matter,” the president said.
