Lukashenko urges to submit 2019 Belarus’ population census project by late August

MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) – It is needed to prepare the project of the population census which will take place in Belarus in 2019 by the end of August, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he heard out a report from Chairperson of the National Statistics Committee Inna Medvedeva on 13 August, BelTA has learned.

The President gave strict instructions to spare funds needed for the organization of the population census. He also instructed workers of public administration bodies and local councils to analyze all issues connected with the population census. Therefore, the Belarusian population census should meet international standards and be cost-effective.

The head of state believes that the county has enough reserves and funds to do everything timely and efficiently. However, it is especially important to use rational approaches.

The population census will be held using the scheme and methods devised by the government and the National Statistics Committee on the basis of today’s realities.

Alexander Lukashenko gave an instruction to prepare a new project of the population census as soon as possible.

Inna Medvedeva said that the United Nations Economic and Social Council has passed the resolution on the 2020 World Population and Housing Census Program. Belarus holds the population census once in ten years in the years ending with nine. Thus, the next population census will be held in 2019.
