Lukashenko urges to step up cooperation with Afghanistan

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko instructed to step up cooperation with Afghanistan. He set such a task when appointing Oleg Ivanov Ambassador to Tajikistan and concurrently to Afghanistan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

According to the President, Afghanistan is a country with great potential. “Our country can get lucrative offers and dividends there. This is a rich developing country, the population is not small. The region is very advantageous strategically. It will not be neglected. Therefore it is necessary to pay very serious consideration to this country, of course, not forgetting Tajikistan,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that there are no problems in the relations between Belarus and Tajikistan. Belarus has strong positions in that country. The relationship with the leadership of Tajikistan is very good. “Through Tajikistan we can cooperate with the neighboring states,” the President said. He added that nevertheless, the cooperation with Tajikistan should be further promoted.
