Lukashenko urges to optimize children’s and youth sport schools

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – It is needed to optimize the system of children’s and youth sport schools, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said during the visit to the Belarusian State University of Physical Education of 10 April, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to work out proposals to support children’s and youth sport schools, to optimize the number of personnel and children attending these schools. At present there are about 500 children’s and youth sport schools in Belarus. However, these schools are not efficient enough. Good coaches work there, but the schools do not get enough financing, the President said.

The head of state emphasized that both athletes and coaches can get high salaries in Belarus if they show good results. It is very important to create conditions for the normal operation of children’s and youth sport schools. “Just like PE lessons, these schools can promote a healthy lifestyle among school students, reveal young sport stars who will show wonderful results, win medals at European and world championships, the Olympic Games,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

Children’s and youth sport schools shape the character of future sportsmen, the President added. “Children’s sport and a healthy lifestyle need aggressive advertizing because a child or youngster will see it and will want to repeat the achievements of great athletes,” the President believes.
