Lukashenko urges to improve training of top-qualification scientists

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko demanded to work out a set of proposals to improve the training of top-qualification scientists, Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission Gennady Palchik told reporters after his report to the head of state on 2 August, BelTA informs.

“An instruction was given to prepare a package of documents regarding the training and attestation of top-qualification scientists and to submit it to the Council of Ministers in the near future,” Gennady Palchik said.

According to the chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, the main issue of his report to the President was the preparation of top-qualification scientists in the context of the tasks set at the 5th All-Belarusian People’s Congress dedicated to the innovative development of the state. “Perhaps, the involvement of scientists in the production process is the main component of innovative development. Therefore, the meeting with the President focused on the possibility to preserve bonuses for doctors and candidates of sciences working in all sectors of the economy and applying the results of their research. It means that a scientific degree should be viewed as a certain state attestation, qualification of scientists regardless of their employment,” Gennady Palchik explained.

Alexander Lukashenko also wanted to know what is done and can be done to support young scientists. According to Gennady Palchik, special funds of the President annually provide scholarships to young scientists. At the same time, they can get a preferential housing construction loan. “Such social support is systematic and productive, and it will be further developed,” the chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission noted.
