Lukashenko urges to continue introduction of new diagnostics and treatment approaches

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – It is needed to continue the introduction of new approaches in the diagnostics and treatment of diseases, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the participants of the scientific conference “New technologies in medicine” hosted by the N.N. Aleksandrov National Oncology and Medical Radiology Center on 7 October, BelTA has learned.

“The main objective is not to rest on the laurels,” the head of state stressed. He praised modern technologies used at the center. The National Positron Emission Tomography Center and the National Molecular Genetic Laboratory for Cancer Research opened there on 7 October. There are no such facilities in many neighboring countries.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, it is important that the National Oncology and Medical Radiology Center was built in Belarus. It is regularly modernized today. “If we had not done it before, it would have been impossible to open such a center today, in these crisis years. Therefore, we should do everything quickly and timely,” the President noted.

In his opinion, the construction and equipment of the center is only the beginning, people are the main priority. “I wanted to see those who work here: experienced specialists and young doctors. The main things for them are to be smart and work hard. Here I saw young people devoted to their work. This is our future, it means that we did not waste money,” the head of state remarked.

Speaking about the reasons for his meeting with the participants of the conference, Alexander Lukashenko said: “It is very important for me to talk to specialists who can estimate the results of our efforts. And the main thing is to say if there are any drawbacks, to say what we still have to do.”

The meeting focused on the topical issues and prospects of medicine development, in particular, cancer diagnostics and treatment. Heads of medical centers also spoke about the optimization of the staff schedule. As a result, a decision was made that heads of medical centers will be authorized to revise the staff schedule taking into account the specifics of their organizations.

Doctors invited Alexander Lukashenko to visit cancer centers more often. “I am ready to visit them every day if it helps save the life of at least one child,” the head of state said.
