MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - In his Address to the Belarusian People and Parliament, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out shortcomings in the timber sector, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that the country spends tens of millions on importing furniture and paper packaging, yet struggles to build affordable calf prophylaxis facilities on a large scale. Meanwhile, in Belarus, wood literally lies unused along forest edges.
"This disgraceful attitude of relevant officials towards an industry into which, by the way, $2.5 billion was invested for the previous modernization, including pulp and paper," stated Alexander Lukashenko.
