MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Belarusian women should give birth to at least three kids. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his address to the nation and the parliament on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Dear women! Give birth to three babies and feel free to demand anything from me.” The proposal met thunderous applause from the audience.
The head of state pointed out that in order to just preserve the population numbers it is necessary for a family to raise at least three kids.
The president pointed out that as far as material incentives are concerned, enough has been done. Before the baby is born, expectant mothers enjoy complete and free medical care. Tangible child allowances are paid. A family capital program is in place. Fees for kindergarten care are kept at a minimum and are subsidized by the state budget.
Meanwhile, Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced that working conditions for women, who return from a maternity leave, and the attitude to them are as important. “It is a disaster for employers in our country,” the head of state remarked. Belarusian employers are at a loss when they need to think what to do with the mother after the baby is born.
“You don’t have to do anything. They need to give birth to the second child and the third one,” the president stressed.
“In the current demographic situation it is criminal to even think that young mothers are a headache for employers,” the head of state noted.
