Lukashenko: The Belarusian People’s Congress stabilizes our society

 MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian People’s Congress stabilizes the Belarusian society. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his address to the nation and the parliament on 18 December, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about the role of the Belarusian People’s Congress in the regulatory environment. “Dear friends! You are entrusted with a high status. The nation you represent trusts you. As delegates you are authorized to make the most important decisions varying from economy and the formation of supreme courts and to matters of peace and security. During this session you will have to make personnel management decisions that provide for a serious renovation of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court. The judicial staff will not only get younger. The Belarusian People’s Congress is supposed to ensure the inviolability of the constitutional system, the continuation of generations, and civic accord. Everyone should bear the high title of a member of the people’s assembly like a banner. You are the future of our country,” he stressed.

“I will not live forever. I am an outgoing president. I cannot stay the president forever. And I don’t have to,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that it is important for him what will happen in the future because he is a president that has done a lot for the country together with the people. “You [the Belarusian People’s Congress] are a stabilizer of our society. No presidents, political parties, groups, members of the parliament and the rest will be able to break what you and I will create. Yes, we are going to change things. You will change things. But you should place the country on rails, give it a push, and let it roll forward,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

“Here, on this platform you are going to decide what to do. You have been created for this purpose. Not for running all over the country and overseeing things. We have been created to deal with global tasks,” the head of state said.
