MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – At the beginning of the Union State Supreme State Council session Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko thanked Russia President Vladimir Putin for support, BelTA has learned.

“I want to thank you for the support and help you always provide to us,” the Belarusian leader said.

Alexander Lukashenko said he was glad that both the President and Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Minsk.

The President of Belarus reminded that the sides agreed to thoroughly prepare for the session of the Supreme State Council. The Belarusian head of state noted with satisfaction that all necessary preparations had been made.

“Vladimir Putin and I discussed these issues by telephone three times, we met two times (the previous meeting was in Sochi), our prime ministers were in touch,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “We have thoroughly prepared and analyzed all issues. This meeting is the peak, and it will be a success because all issues have been elaborated.”

The President of Belarus noted that the Supreme State Council session will focus on a number of international and other issues.

“In short, we are prepared for the session of the Supreme State Council,” the Belarusian leader concluded.
