Lukashenko speaks against national digital sovereignty inside EAEU

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – It is necessary to stop using slogans in favor of preserving the national digital sovereignty inside the Eurasian Economic Union. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he delivered a speech during the Eurasian Economic Forum’s plenary session “The strategy of Eurasian economic integration: Results and prospects” in Minsk on 26 June, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “The creation of a united digital platform for doing business, the development of digital trade, the use of big data are the areas that can help our economies increase their efficiency.”

“Meanwhile, it is necessary to end slogans calling to preserve the national digital sovereignty inside the union. On the contrary, it is necessary to couple the software platforms we use in practice and enable the transboundary exchange of information from national databases and registries, recognize digital signatures and digital documents,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
