MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) - Head of state Aleksandr Lukashenko sent greetings to the people of the Slovak Republic as the country celebrated the national holiday -  the Republic's Day on 1 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Throughout the history, Belarusians and Slovaks have always honored and supported the principles of equality, trust and respect. They were united in the joint fight during the Second World War; they shared an interest in developing business and humanitarian cooperation," the message of greetings reads.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Slovakia. "Sincere friendship and ties between us cannot be suddenly severed by political ambitions and contradictions," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “Belarus always stands for partnership at all levels. I am convinced that our citizens will definitely find ways to maintain steady contacts that will serve as a solid basis for deepening cooperation between the two countries."

The president wished the people of Slovakia well-being, prosperity and a peaceful future. "May the coming 2023 year bring hope and joy to every home, and fulfill all cherished dreams," he added.
