Lukashenko sends national day greetings to people of Latvia

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to the people of Latvia as the country celebrates the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian president.

The Belarusian leader recalled that on 18 November 1918 Latvia became an independent state. “More than 100 years later, in spite of the complicated historical and political conditions, the Latvian people preserved their authenticity and commitment to their own path of development,” the message of greetings reads.

According to the head of state, right now Latvia and the whole world are facing difficult times due to the pandemic. “Belarus respects the independence and state sovereignty of all countries, as well as their national symbols and willingness to live in peace and accord,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The president expressed confidence that long-standing friendship, good neighborly relations and the development of the centuries-old dialogue will remain a solid foundation for the enhancement of productive cooperation.

“On this special day I wish all Latvians peace, understanding and well-being. Using this opportunity, I want to send my sincere support to our Latvian neighbors who are doing their best every day to overcome all difficulties and ensure a better future,” the Belarusian leader remarked.
