Lukashenko sends National Day greetings to France

Lukashenko sends National Day greetings to France

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to the people of France as the country celebrates French National Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Your state plays a special role in Europe and the world, makes an invaluable contribution to security, humanitarian cooperation and contacts between people. We are grateful to ordinary French people for their big hearts, help and a good attitude to Belarus,” the message of congratulations reads.

The Belarusian head of state recalled that this year the two countries mark important anniversary events related to the two world wars that killed tens of millions of people. “We should remember these periods of history because our peoples paid a heavy price for independence. We should be careful and sensible, and as we strive for change someone has promised us we should not lose more than we gain,” the Belarusian leader noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that ancestors of the Belarusians and the French people managed to survive and to return to a normal life thanks to great love for their homeland, mutual support and understanding. “Many Belarusians fought for France, French brothers defended our Belarusian land. We, the descendants of the winners, remember, appreciate and are proud of it,” he stressed.

The president of Belarus wished the people of France solidarity, confidence in the future and a peaceful sky overhead.
