MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to the personnel of the Sovetskaya Belorussiya newspaper which celebrates the 90^th anniversary of the first issue, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“For about a century, it has been reflecting the history of Belarus and the fates of people living here,” the message of greetings reads. “Sovetskaya Belorussiya was and remains an interesting and reliable companion for readers.”

The president remarked that today it is a modern multifunctional media holding company. “Using cutting-edge information technologies, the newspaper cherishes the values of traditional journalism. Its personnel understand the power of word and take responsibility for it to a half of million of readers.”

The head of state expressed confidence that an objective and well-considered evaluation of events will remain a distinctive feature of the personnel, will help strengthen the state and raise its international authority.
