MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Metropolitan Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch Emeritus of All Belarus on the 40^th anniversary of his appointment as Metropolitan of Minsk and Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“For many years you have used your authority to unite people with different opinions and aspirations, find right decisions in difficult situations. Thanks to your activities Belarusian Christians trust the Eastern Orthodox Church as a stronghold of spirituality and everlasting moral values,” the message of greetings reads.

The president remarked that the commitment of Metropolitan Filaret to the ideals of love and mercy shows how a person can make the society closer to perfection and fill people’s souls with love and kindness. “I am convinced that your knowledge, wisdom and prayers will help people find the right path and strengthen the authority of the Belarusian Orthodox Church,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The head of state wished Metropolitan Filaret health, peace and every success in his service to Belarus and Eastern Orthodoxy.
