Lukashenko reshuffles MFA, appoints new ambassadors

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made a reshuffle in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and appointed new ambassadors to a number of countries important in terms of promoting Belarus’ interests, BelTA has learned.

The head of state gave his consent to the appointment of Sergei Aleinik, who previously held the post of deputy minister, as first deputy foreign minister.

The president also approved the appointment of two deputy foreign ministers: Yury Ambrazevich (who served as Belarus' permanent representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva) and Igor Nazaruk (who was director of the Trade Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission).

Aleksandr Lukashenko also appointed Vladimir Ulakhovich, who headed the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary with concurrent accreditation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia. Anatoly Lis, former Brest Oblast Governor, was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Georgia. Vladimir Borovikov, former Head of the Main Personnel Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam. Larisa Belskaya was appointed Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva. She previously served as Head of the Foreign Policy Analysis and the Main Information and Analytical Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
